Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging

As our Equality, diversity and inclusion policy states, here at PCP SCITT, “we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for all trainees, staff, and stakeholders. We believe that equality, diversity, and inclusion are fundamental to the development of high-quality teachers who can effectively meet the needs of all students in a diverse society. We will strive to eliminate discrimination, promote fairness, and celebrate the diversity of all individuals within our training community”.

At PCP SCITT, we strive to provide a sense of belonging at every stage of the programme, to successfully develop our trainees as reflective practitioners who prioritise inclusive and respectful relationships. Recently, SCITTs across the country, were introduced to an insightful update on the Increasing Diversity in ITT project which was created by Being Luminary,  Chartered College of Teaching and Chiltern Learning Trust, funded by Mission 44. This project aims to address barriers to ITT recruitment and retention, promote fair practice and create sector wide change. The project has recommendations for ITT providers to implement in order to improve diversity and representation of trainees from global majority backgrounds.
