Our Approach
We recognise that digital tools, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), are increasingly used to support written work. As a teacher training provider, we take a balanced and transparent approach that reflects the professional values expected of trainee teachers.
Our recruitment process is designed to be fair, inclusive, and reflective, and all final decisions are made using human professional judgement.
Acceptable Use of AI
Applicants may use AI or similar tools to:
· Support spelling, grammar, or sentence structure
· Help organise ideas or improve clarity
· Check tone or readability
This type of support is similar to using a spellchecker or proofreading tool and is acceptable.
What We Expect from Applicants
Your application must:
· Reflect your own experiences, understanding, and motivation for teaching
· Be written in your own voice
· Represent ideas that you can discuss, explain, and reflect on confidently
During the interview, you may be asked questions that relate directly to your application. This allows us to understand your thinking, reflection, and suitability for teacher training.
What Is Not Appropriate
AI should not be used to:
· Generate full answers that you do not understand or cannot explain
· Replace personal reflection or lived experience, for example, in response to the video task
· Create responses that are generic or disconnected from your own journey into teaching
If there is a significant difference between what is written and what you can explain verbally, we may ask follow-up questions or seek further clarification.
Interviews and Notes
Reading from prepared scripts or typing responses during the interview is not permitted.
Interviewers will make notes as part of our normal assessment process.
Adjustments and Support
We are committed to equality and inclusion. Reasonable adjustments may be made for applicants who:
· Have a declared disability or learning need
· Are neurodivergent
· Have English as an additional language
If you feel you may need adjustments or additional support, we encourage you to let us know in advance so we can support you appropriately.
Our Commitment to Fairness
We do not use automated systems to make recruitment decisions. All applications and interviews are reviewed by trained staff who value:
· Authenticity
· Reflective thinking
· Professional integrity
· A genuine commitment to working with children
In Summary
Using tools to support your writing is acceptable. What matters most to us is you — your experiences, your reflections, and your readiness to begin teacher training.
